Privacy Policy

The D1 Life Foundation (“D1 Life,” “we,” “us”) operates d1life.org. This policy explains what information we collect through this website, how it’s used, and who else may handle it on our behalf.

Information we collect

d1life.org is a static website with no account system and no server-side database of our own. We don’t collect personal information through a contact form — our Contact page links directly to your email application. The situations where information is collected are:

• Donations. Our donate page and giving links use an embedded Givebutter widget. Givebutter, not D1 Life, collects and processes your name, contact details, and payment information to complete a donation. Their handling of that information is governed by Givebutter’s privacy policy. If you’d rather not use the online widget, you can mail a check to the address in our footer — 100% of either method supports our mission.
• Newsletter signup. Our newsletter page also uses an embedded Givebutter form. The email address (and any other details) you submit there is collected by Givebutter on our behalf, for the sole purpose of sending you updates from D1 Life.
• Scholarship applications. When our scholarship application is open, “Apply”/“Scholarship Info” links may send you to an external application partner. Any information you submit there is governed by that partner’s privacy policy, not this one.
• Site analytics. See “Cookies & analytics” below.

How we use information

We use donation and newsletter information only to process gifts, issue any applicable donation receipts, and send communications you’ve signed up for. We do not sell personal information, and we don’t share it with third parties beyond the service providers (like Givebutter) needed to operate the site and process donations.

Cookies & analytics

d1life.org itself does not set tracking or advertising cookies. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics (not yet enabled at the time of writing) to understand overall traffic — it’s cookieless and doesn’t fingerprint individual visitors or track you across other sites; it only reports aggregate numbers like page views. A couple of small preferences (whether you’ve dismissed the newsletter pop-up or the top announcement banner) are remembered using your browser’s local/session storage — that stays on your device and is never sent to us.

Third-party embeds on some pages — the Givebutter donation/newsletter widgets and, on some pages, an embedded Facebook page — are served from those companies’ own domains and may set their own cookies or collect information under their own privacy policies when you interact with them.

Children’s privacy

d1life.org is not directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from children through this site. Our scholarship program serves high school seniors applying through a separate external application partner, not through this website directly.

Your choices

You can unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time using the link in any email we send. To ask what information we (or Givebutter, on our behalf) hold about you, or to request it be removed where we’re able to, contact us at d1lifefoundation@gmail.com. Note that we may need to retain certain donation records for tax and accounting purposes even after a removal request.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site or our tools change. The “Last updated” date at the top will reflect the most recent revision.
